Back To Work!

WE have been very blessed that I have been able to be a stay-at-home mom for the past 3 years. However, during these tough economic times it is time for us to supplement our single income!

Unfortunately, we live in a really small town and don't have a lot of options for work. It's frustrating because we could be making so much more money if we lived back in DFW where Jimmy could flight instruct or do contract flying. But, we don't. God has us here for a reason. Jimmy and I went around and around about who should get the job. So, after much prayer and consideration, I decided I could us a little outlet of my own. I've had a few job offers but have decided to work as a server at my favorite Italian restaurant in Branson.

Jimmy gets 15 days off each month. The other 15 he either flies or sits "standby." My manager is willing to work with his scheduled days off. My plan is to work the dinner shift about 3 nights a week. The beauty is that I can still enjoy the boys during the day and participate in our activities like gymnastics, swim lessons, play groups, etc and only miss a few hours with them at night. Jimmy will always be home with them so we won't need childcare.

I have never worked a job like this before, but I love people and I love food so I hope it will be a good fit! I finished my training last week and will work my first shift this weekend. Wish me luck!

Hi , Karen, Good luck to you this weekend ! I went back to work for a few months too, am back home again, I did not like being away at night and driving in the snow. I have a new blog now www.affordablehomemaking.blogspot.com. If you scroll to the bottom I have some really good frugal money saving sites bookmarked. We are definatly living on a budget too. I have been having lots of fun with some of the ideas these gal's have. The homemade cleaning recipes have been great. And some of the cooking with bean recipes the family has loved ! Good luck - hope it all went well. Serving is a tough and tiring job, but very rewarding on the people front.
